Shauna Peet
Lead Teacher (she/her)
Shauna began at Park West as a parent in 2007 when she and her daughter were enrolled in the Tots program. Serving as an Assisting Parent in the two years that followed inspired Shauna to ultimately seek out an education degree and return to the classroom as a teacher. She returned to Park West as a JK Assist in 2017. After 4 years in JK and 4-Day classrooms, she is now settled in the 2-Day and 3-Day programs. She values the opportunity to accompany and guide these students through, what is for most of them, their first school year experience. It’s a foundational year for this age group. As a 2-Day/3-Day teacher, Shauna feels entrusted with the role of helping children navigate group life away from home and caregivers as well as supporting them as they begin to develop the social and emotional skills needed to be part of a school community, skills they will continue to develop and carry with them into the school years ahead! Making sure the classroom room is full of both familiar and comforting materials and activities plus new discoveries for students is part of what Shauna enjoys thinking about both at the beginning of and throughout the school year. Books can be such a comfort to children during the school day, and Shauna is always happy to sit with a single child or a crowd and read with them. Outside of school Shauna likes to run along the lakefront during (most of) the year, pickle vegetables in the summer and listen to live music whenever possible.
