substitute teacher

Substitute teachers are called on an as-needed basis to fill in for absent teachers in the classroom. Duties include playing interactively with children, setting up materials before class, helping to clean and store materials, participating in group and snack times and various other tasks as assigned. 

Our classrooms are organized by age-group and set up to inspire investigation and collaboration. They are typically staffed by two lead teachers and one assistant teacher or parent volunteer. Creating emotional security is a primary goal that lays the foundation for our program. 

Successful candidates should enjoy the company of children, have a warm demeanor, be able to listen to children’s ideas and follow the direction of permanent staff. Additionally, applicants need to be able to lift up to 50 pounds and pass a background check. 

Our long-tenured staff are experts in the field. They not only provide exceptional models, but are skilled in guiding those who are newer to teaching. This position would provide an excellent opportunity for professional growth in the field of early childhood education. 

As a substitute at Park West, you could be called in advance or on the same day to fill in for a morning, afternoon or full day shift. The sub rate for 2024-2025 is $75 for a half-day shift. 

Classes offered

2 day - Tuesdays and Fridays 8:30-10:45am

Children must turn 3 by March 1, 2025

3 day - Mondays, Wednesday and Thursdays 8:30-11:30am

Children must turn 3 by November 1, 2024

4 day - Tuesday - Friday 8:30-11:30am

Children must turn 3 by September 1, 2024

JK - Tuesday - Friday 8:30-11:30am

Children must turn 4 by September 1, 2024

Full day option for 4 day and JK students

Children from both classes stay for lunch and afternoon programming until 3:30pm
